Baseball is a highly popular Spring NCAA college sport played by 55 of the 61 highly selective colleges with a total of 1,947 athletes participating in the sport. Baseball players at these 55 highly selective colleges represent 9% of all male NCAA athletes from the 61 highly selective colleges.

From the 55 highly selective colleges that play baseball, 1033 of the baseball athletes play at 28 of the highly selective colleges in Division 1, while the remaining 914 baseball athletes play at the 27 highly selective colleges in Division 3.
